Cookie Policy
Manage Cookie Preferences
You can review, change, or withdraw your consent at any time.
This policy explains what cookies and similar storage this site uses, what each one is for, and how to change your mind at any time.
1. What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. On your next visit, the browser hands it back. Some are needed for a site to work at all. Others exist to measure how it is being used.
This site also uses your browser’s local storage to remember your privacy choice. Local storage does the same job as a cookie but is not sent to the server with every request, which means your choice stays on your device rather than travelling back and forth. Where this page says cookies, it means both.
2. What I use them for
- Necessary and functional. Session integrity, form security, and remembering the privacy choice you made.
- Analytics, with your consent. Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages get read, how people arrive, and where they leave.
- Interface diagnostics, with your consent. Microsoft Clarity, to produce heatmaps and anonymized recordings that show where the interface confuses people.
3. What is actually set
| Name | Set by | Category | Lasts | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
nbk_cookie_consent | This site, in local storage | Necessary | Until you clear it | Records whether you accepted or declined non-essential storage, so you are not asked again on every page |
_GRECAPTCHA | Google reCAPTCHA | Necessary | 6 months | Scores how likely a contact form submission is to be automated, so real messages get through and spam does not |
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Analytics | 2 years | Tells one visitor apart from another so repeat visits are not counted as new people. Set only with your consent |
_ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Analytics | 2 years | Holds the state of your current session on this site. Set only with your consent |
_clck | Microsoft Clarity | Diagnostics | 1 year | Keeps a Clarity identifier so repeat visits can be linked. Set only with your consent |
_clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Diagnostics | 1 day | Joins several page views into one recorded session. Set only with your consent |
CLID, MUID, ANONCHK, SM | Microsoft | Diagnostics | Up to 1 year | Identifies a browser to Microsoft so a diagnostic session holds together across requests. Set only with your consent |
Nothing on this site is used for advertising or retargeting, and no advertising cookies are set at any point.
4. Things worth telling you about that are not cookies
Google Fonts. Some typefaces are requested from Google’s font servers as the page loads. This sets no cookie, but your IP address does reach Google so the font file can be delivered. There is no way to load the page without this while the fonts are served that way.
Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. Both are verified for this site. They read pages and the sitemap that are already public. Neither stores anything on your device, and neither sees anything you submit through the contact form.
5. Consent, and what happens when you decline
This site uses Google Consent Mode v2. Before any Google or Microsoft script runs, analytics storage, ad storage, ad user data and ad personalization are all set to denied. Nothing changes until you choose.
If you decline, or withdraw consent later:
- Analytics and diagnostics stop immediately. Google Tag Manager and Clarity are signalled to cease recording
- The tracking cookies already on your device are actively deleted, including the Google Analytics and Clarity cookies listed above
- Your choice is saved on your device so you are not asked again on every page
If you close the banner without choosing, nothing beyond the necessary items above is set.
6. How to change your mind
- On this site. Use the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page. It reopens the same choices you were given on your first visit.
- In your browser. Every major browser lets you block cookies, delete them, or warn you before they are set. The setting is under Privacy, usually within Settings. Blocking everything will break parts of many websites, not only this one.
- For Google Analytics everywhere. Install Google’s opt-out browser add-on, which disables it across all sites.
7. Changes
If the storage this site uses changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated.
